From its debut on Fox in 2001 (with a quite large title: American Idol: The Search for a Superstar), American Idol is one of the most popular shows in the US – the only American TV show to be on the number one spot of the Nielsen ratings for six seasons in a row. The show has given us such idols as Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Taylor Hicks or Kris Allen.

The new season’s auditions will begin on July 17th in Nashville. The next stops will be in Milwaukee, New Orleans, East Rutherford, Austin and San Francisco.
